The Red-Tailed Black Cockatoo is gorgeous, cheeky and full of personality - this is what I wanted to capture in this painting. I chose to paint the female cockatoo rather than the male, because I felt drawn to the light yellow patterns on her feathers - especially around her face, like a sky full of bright stars.
