Zebra Love
Artwork Description
Zebras are social animals, and it was a delight to observe this mother and foal grooming each other at a waterhole in Etosha National Park, Namibia. This is drawn from my own reference photograph. It was fascinating to observe not only their caring behaviour, but also their beautiful individual patterns, and the endearing fluffy "baby fur" on the back of the young zebra. As they grow up, the stripes darken from brown to black, and the fluff shortens to a dense coat. Drawing this was a fascinating study of these animals in more ways than just stripes.
