Wildlife Artist and Photographer

A woman's face is calm with an ageless beauty, her pale hair dishevelled and slightly wild. An Eastern Yellow Robin has woven a nest in her hair. Did the bird use her hair to line her nest? Or does the woman carry the colourful yellow bird only in her imagination, in her mind, as a vision of Nature?

Nature Nests Within Us

Artwork Description

Continuing my Mother Nature series, this surreal and soft watercolour piece speaks of our connection with the natural world. The bird is the Eastern Yellow Robin (an Australian native bird), who uses tiny bits of tree bark and vegetation to build her nest, and binds it together with spider webs. The woman's face is calm with an ageless beauty, her pale hair dishevelled and slightly wild. Did the bird use her hair to line her nest? Or does the woman carry the colourful yellow bird only in her imagination, in her mind, as a vision of Nature? It is up to you to decide... :) Painted in contemporary blue-greys and soft yellow and sage-green tones, this is a calming, modern watercolour painting - and this emerging series is a new direction for me personally, as an artist. This watercolour on archival Fabriano Artistico paper is ready for framing however you wish, through your favourite local framer. (Reference image used for the woman was by Alex Sheldon on Unsplash - nesting Yellow Robin from my own photo.)
