"Whoooo are you calling an owl?!" That's right - this bird is not an owl, though he looks like one at first glance.This is a Tawny Frogmouth - a native Australian bird with big gorgeous eyes and known for funny expressions!This species eats insects and small vertebrates, and is more closely related to the nightjars than to owls.Actually, this particular bird has been visiting my parents-in-law's garden, and he looks so surprised because he turned around to find a camera pointed at him. My father-in-law took the reference photo, and I created the painting based on it.
