A detailed black and white drawing, done in pen & ink, of a Burrowing Owl with its head tilted sideways. Its yellow eyes are a pop of colour, looking at you quizzically. Near the owl’s feet is a small desert landscape with succulents and small stones, where a Scarab Beetle is hoping the Owl won’t see it.

A Matter of Perspective

Artwork Description

Owls can do some amazing things with their heads, including turn them almost all the way around, and tilt them sideways. I wonder what the world looks like from an Owl's perspective? The Burrowing Owl is a small, long-legged owl found throughout grassland or desert landscapes of North and South America. After researching Burrowing Owls and their habitat, I had to include a dung beetle in the corner of this drawing - apparently, they are a favourite snack for the Burrowing Owl!
